  • Plant Bio :

Rhipsalis Cashero a epiphytic, grows on and in trees, succulent cactus originating from Central and Southern America but now found in other parts of the world including Florida and parts of Africa.  It is similar to the more commonly available Rhipsalis baccifera but its stems are thicker and a more vivid green.  These plants are commonly called Mistletoe cactuses as they produce white daisy like flowers followed by white berries.

  • Positioning

Your Rhipsalis Cashero will enjoy a spot with good but mostly indirect light.  It can tolerate a spot with no direct light but if there is direct light on the leaves this should be in the early morning or late afternoon so a spot in an East or West facing room or to one side of a South facing window is ideal.

  • Watering

Water your Rhipsalis Cashero only when the growing medium has completely dried out.   Then remove it from its cover pot and, avoiding the leaves, completely drench the root ball.  If the medium is very dry, this may mean watering it more than once.  You will know that the root ball has been adequately watered when excess is draining from all the holes at the bottom of the pot.  Let that excess completely drain before replacing it in its cover pot.

  • Growth Habits

In the wild Rhipsalis Cashero grows attached to a tree with its modified stems trailing downwards.  This makes it an ideal trailing plant in the home because it mimics its growth habit in the wild.  As it matures it will create vertical stems which in time will trail down producing a very striking plant.  It can grow as long as a metre without needing re-potting as their roots remain very fine.
