It is a epiphytic cactus whose wild relatives live on and in evergreen trees in South American rain forests. It is a stunning plant with a cascading display of long, flat stems which range in colour from vibrant green, through orange to the deep pink hues of its juvenile foliage. When it flowers it does so from yellow buds which form at the margins of the leaves opening to reveal small, daisy like white flowers with yellow stamens. If fertilised this go on to form white berries
Positioning
Rhipsalis Ramulosa 'Red Coral requires a position in good, but mostly indirect, light. It's wild relatives are epiphytes growing on and up ever green trees. Emulate these conditions but providing a spot where the plant only gets direct light in the early morning or late afternoon.
Watering
Your Rhipsalis Ramulosa Red Coral is somewhat drought tolerant so leave until the medium is completely dry before watering. When you do thoroughly drench the root ball but avoid getting large drops on water onto the leaves that can led to spots of rot. Reduce watering during the winter when your Rhipsalis Ramulosa Red Coral’ will be in a state of dormancy.
Growth Habits
This plant needs room to trail and is best grown as a hanging plant. It has very fine roots so will no require repotting as long as you remember to feed it when it growth. A mature plant can develop leaves as long as 75cm and will grow upwards as well as trailing if in the correct light conditions.
This is a flowering plant which produces white daisy like blooms at the edges of the leaves followed by white berries.
