Hylocereus undatus AKA Dragon Fruit Cactus Mature Plants 14cm pot

£47.00Price

A hemi-eiphytic (begins life in the canopy but can develop terresterial roots) cactus from the dry open woodlands of Central and nothern South America.  This group of plants are commonly referred to as orchid cacti or Queens of the Night for their extraordinary flowers.  Due to the commercial market for its fruits it is now more widely cultivated.  These fruits vary in colour from bright red, through crimson to peach coloured and have unusual soft freen scales.  The flowers which proceed them are even more spectucular.  At a length of over 20cm these are the largest in the Cactaceae family and are white, scented and bell shaped.  These open at dusk, as they are designed to attract moths or fruit bats,  and last only one day.   For those with a adventurous horticultural streak these are relatively easy plants to keep and will thrive in bright frost free conditions.

These are large and mature plants supplied in a 14cm hanging pot.
