Begonia Rex 'Fern' - Emerald Hairy Leaf Compact Begonia

£12.95Price

There are thousands of hybrids of this family of plants which originated from the sub-tropics.  The Rex group  are mainly grown for the beauty of their leaves.  This is a lovely variety which rewards close inspection. They are furry & star shaped, with deep veins and flecks of white on the edge of the leaf.  The flowers are pale pink/cream and whilst not show stoppers make a delightful contrast to the deep emerald green of their leaves.

  • Positioning

Requires a spot with very good light but avoid a place where it gets very harsh direct midday light as this will result in a discolouration of the leaves.

  • Watering

Would like to remain moist, but not water logged, but will tolerate a little drying out with out leaf loss.  Ideally water when the top 1 or 2 cm of the growing medium feels dry to the touch.

  • Growth Habits

These plants remain relatively compact and over time will grow wider rather than much taller.  Repot to accomodate this grow or allow the plant to flow over the sides of the pot.  Over time you might choose to cut some of this growth & propogate from it.

  • Pot Size

This plant is supplied in a 12cm pot along with a comprehensive easy to follow care guide.
