This cultivar has such fresh green, wavy fronds it makes you refreshed just to look at it. These rise straight upwards from a neat rosette and it is this sinuous outline which makes it such a sculptural plant. Easy to look after, Asplenium ‘Crispy Wave’, can be a very long lived plant and will, if happy, eventually become as large as 1.5 metres high and 1 metre across. It enjoys humidity and would be well suited to a steamy bathroom or kitchen.
This is an evergreen fern which forms a striking rosette of bright green sword-shaped blades with highly sinuate, ruffled wavy margins and an obvious dark purplish-black midrib. This is a cultivar of Asplenium Nidus an epiphytic (lives on trees) species of fern in the family Aspleniaceae. These plants are native to tropical south-eastern Asia, eastern Australia, Hawaii, Polynesia and the Christmas Islands, as well as India, and eastern Africa. It is commonly referred to as a Bird's Nest Fern or simply nest fern with the word ‘nidus’ meaning a place in which something develops or is fostered.
